Just when you think it’s all over with summer gone you will find autumn is actually brilliant time to visit North Wales. The summer crowds begin to ease, mountain and woodland landscapes turn copper and gold, and the events calendar fills with food festivals, heritage experiences, Halloween attractions and memorable evenings by rail.
From Conwy’s centuries-old Honey Fair to Llangollen Food Festival, mountain challenges around Eryri and fireworks in the Dee Valley, here are some of the standout North Wales events to look out for in autumn 2026.
Conwy Honey Fair
14 September 2026 | Conwy town centre
The Conwy Honey Fair is one of North Wales’s most distinctive autumn traditions. Held on High Street and Lancaster Square, the fair has roots stretching back centuries and celebrates local beekeeping, honey, beeswax products, plants and autumn crafts.
It is an easy event to combine with a day in Conwy: explore the medieval town walls, visit Conwy Castle, browse independent shops and finish with a walk around the harbour.
Llangollen Fringe Festival
4–13 September 2026 | Llangollen
Llangollen Fringe Festival brings a lively programme of music, comedy, theatre, spoken word and creative events to the Dee Valley. With events typically taking place across a range of venues, it is a great excuse to spend time in one of North Wales’s most scenic towns.
Beyond the festival, Llangollen offers plenty for a weekend break: the River Dee, the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, canal walks and heritage rail journeys are all close by.
Mold Food & Drink Festival
18–20 September 2026 | Mold, Flintshire
Mold Food & Drink Festival is a strong option for visitors who want to sample Welsh produce and discover independent food and drink businesses. Taking place over a September weekend, the event puts the focus on regional makers, street food and a sociable market-town atmosphere.
Mold also makes a convenient base for exploring nearby attractions including Loggerheads Country Park, Clwydian Range walks and the North Wales coast.
Llangollen Food Festival
10–11 October 2026 | Llangollen
Llangollen Food Festival is a popular annual celebration of Welsh and Borders produce. Visitors can expect local food and drink stalls, tastings, demonstrations and a wide mix of artisan producers in the setting of the Dee Valley.
It is ideal for food lovers, couples and families wanting a full autumn day out. Arrive early, explore the festival, then allow time for a walk by the river or a visit to the town’s independent cafés, shops and pubs.
Marathon Eryri
24 October 2026 | Llanberis
Marathon Eryri, (formerly known as the Snowdonia Marathon) is one of the UK’s most dramatic road races. Starting in Llanberis, runners take on a demanding course in the shadow of Yr Wyddfa, surrounded by the landscape of Eryri National Park.
Even if you are not taking part, it can be an exciting weekend to visit: spectators can support runners, enjoy the atmosphere in Llanberis and use the event as a reason to explore the lakes, villages and walking routes nearby. Accommodation should be booked well in advance.
Halloween in North Wales
Late October 2026 | Betws-y-Coed, Bala and beyond
North Wales is particularly atmospheric around Halloween, with forests, historic castles and heritage railways providing a natural backdrop for seasonal events.
Popular options include:
- Ffear Fforest at Zip World, Betws-y-Coed, an immersive scare attraction expected to run during October and into early November.
- Halloween Trains on Bala Lake Railway, with themed journeys along the lakeshore on 30 and 31 October.

Welsh Whisky Festival
30 October–1 November 2026 | Llandudno
The Welsh Whisky Festival returns to Llandudno for a long weekend of tastings, exhibitors and masterclasses. It brings together distilleries, independent bottlers and whisky enthusiasts from Wales, the UK and beyond.
For a grown-up autumn break, it is hard to beat: pair a festival session with a stay in Llandudno, a walk around the Great Orme and a meal overlooking the promenade.
Ride the Rocket
7 November 2026 | Llangollen Railway
Ride the Rocket combines a heritage steam-train journey through the Dee Valley with what is billed as North Wales’s biggest fireworks display. Departing from Llangollen, passengers travel to Corwen before enjoying an evening of fireworks in a spectacular countryside setting.
Your ticket includes the return steam journey and admission to the display. As this is a capacity-led event, advance booking is strongly recommended.
